| Located in the middle of Lake Huron, Manitoulin Island is the largest freshwater island in the world, with an area of approximately 2,766 square kilometers. Situated as the dividing point between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, Manitoulin Island has more then 80 inland lakes. It is about 550 kilometers north of Toronto. The island can be accessed via two routes. Either by ferry from the South in Tobermory or over a swing bridge from the North in Little Current. Driving Directions Toronto to Manitoulin Take 400 N. to Hwy 69 N., west at Sudbury on Hwy 17 then south on Hwy 6 at Espanola to Little Current,Manitoulin Island. 500 km @ 90 km/hr Toronto to Manitoulin via Tobermory North on Hwy 6 past Owen Sound up the Bruce Penninsula to Tobermory.

Detailed Driving Directions to The Huron Sands Motel
FROM TORONTO Take Highway 400 northbound. Follow Highway 400 to Highway 69. Take Highway 69 until you reach Sudbury. Take Highway 17 West until you reach Highway 6. Follow Highway 6 through Espanola, follow it until you reach Little Current on Manitoulin Island.From Little Current follow Highway 540 south to M'Chigeeng (West Bay). Turn left onto Highway 551. Follow until you reach Mindemoya. At the stop sign in Mindemoya turn Right, staying on Highway 551. Follow until you reach the Hawberry House in Dryden's Corners. Turn Left, still staying on Highway 551 until you come to the town of Providence Bay. Welcome to The Huron Sands Motel! FROM SOUTH BAYMOUTH Once you have arrived in South Baymouth off the MS Chi-Cheemaun Ferry from the Bruce Penninsula. Head North on Highway 6, watch for Tehkummah 10th sideroad. Turn left and head into Tehkummah. Turn Left onto the Government road just as you reach the hamlet of Tehkummah. Follow the Government Road till it ends at Providence Bay. Turn Right and follow road around beach till you come to the stop sign at the Home Hardware. Turn right and go one more block. Welcome to Huron Sands Motel!
